Be Aware of Scammers’ Tactics
The best way to beat them is to know their tricks.
Fraudsters, hackers and scammers are out to trick you into sharing your personal information, so they can have access to your finances. Knowing their methods is the best way to outsmart these con artists. For your financial safety, we are sharing some tips about techniques scammers will use to trick you into disclosing your personal and sensitive information.
Phishing…
Scammers send emails pretending to be from your bank, asking you to provide sensitive information such as account numbers, passwords, or social security numbers. Always be cautious and verify the source before providing any personal information.

Smishing…
Similar to phishing, smishing involves scam messages sent via SMS or text messages. They may contain links or prompts to call a number, urging you to disclose personal information. Be wary of unsolicited messages and verify with your bank if you have any doubts.
Vishing…
Vishing is a scam conducted over the phone, where fraudsters impersonate bank representatives in an attempt to get sensitive information. Remember that legitimate banks will never call to ask you to provide your password or other sensitive information over the phone. If in doubt, hang up and call your bank directly using the official contact details.

Skimming…
Skimmers are devices installed on ATMs or point-of-sale terminals to capture credit or debit card information. Always
inspect ATMs for any signs of tampering and cover your hand when entering your PIN to prevent hidden cameras from
capturing it.
Malware and phishing websites…
Be cautious while clicking on links or downloading attachments from unknown sources, as they may contain malware or direct you to a fake website that mimics ours. Ensure that your computer and mobile devices have up-to-date anti-virus software installed.

Fake checks and wire transfer scams…
Scammers may send you fraudulent checks or requests to transfer money, claiming you’ve won a lottery, received an inheritance, or have a job opportunity. Avoid depositing checks from unfamiliar sources and be skeptical of unsolicited money transfer requests.
Account takeover…
Criminals may gain unauthorized access to your bank accounts by stealing your login credentials or using other techniques. Use strong, unique passwords for each online account and enable multi-factor authentication whenever possible. Regularly monitor your account statements for any suspicious activity.

Investment scams…
Beware of unsolicited investment opportunities promising high returns with low risk. Always research and verify the legitimacy of the investment and the company before providing any funds. Remember, if you suspect any fraudulent activity or have concerns about the security of your accounts, contact your local bank branch immediately. They can provide guidance and take appropriate action to protect your interests.
If you have questions or want more information,
please stop by your local branch and we would
be glad to help you.
